Movement is built from the ground up. Contact through the feet and hands. Then loading through hips and shoulders. All of this then feeds into the torso or core. When that chain is connected, movement feels smooth and strong. When it’s not, things start to feel disconnected...hips get tight. Shoulders get cranky, core is gripping instead of supporting. When I notice that come up in my body, its always a reminder to keep coming back to ground work. Training on the ground provides the opportunity for your body to connect based on innate patterns. The foundation that every human builds from the ground up. So lets train those foundational patterns! I just dropped a 20-minute follow-along session built with these movements and intentions. And we came up with a list of moves...
Push-ups used to give me a tight neck, painful shoulders and cranky elbows. I could do em, but they broke me down. I remember when I was working a marketing job in tech. Our startup was growing, and so was my waistline. It was't a ton of weight but I noticed it early and wanted to do something about it. I decided that I'd do 5 pushups for every sale that came in. At first, this was 30-50 pushups a day. But that quickly turned into 100-200 a day. I started sweating through my dress shirt but...
Last weekend, I guided a group of men through movement at a retreat. This wasn't a movement retreat, so I was brought in to facilitate a daily 1 hour practice that met the needs of the attendees. But I've been doing this stuff long enough that I know its more about providing practices that are applicable to whoever I'm guiding. These guys were in their...
